The Carolyn Greenleaf Memorial Fund Award Committee is accepting applications for a music education award for talented high school students. This merit-based award was originally established in 2007 and honors the memory of Carolyn Greenleaf, a resident of Essex who worked tirelessly to promote music in our communities. The Carolyn Greenleaf Memorial Award Committee then partnered with Community Foundation of Middlesex County to establish the Carolyn Greenleaf Memorial Fund.
The Spring 2015 music education award will provide a 17-week session of 30-minute private lessons at the Community Music School in Centerbrook, CT. It is not renewable, and can only be won once by any individual.
Applications will be accepted from area middle and high school students, age 13 and older*, who wish to study voice or any instrument. This full-tuition music education award is based on merit, not financial need. A progress report will be requested from the instructor mid-semester based on attendance at lessons as well as musical progress.
There are four parts to the application:
• Application form
• Audition recording (CD or MP3 file)
• Teacher recommendation
• A copy of the sheet music of your audition piece
