New Faces Around the Table

The Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Clio Coles, Brian Abely, and Sue Sawchuk.

Sue Sawchuk (Clinton) joined the CFMC Board in June 2014. She has been a resident of Connecticut for over 35 years and currently lives in Clinton. Sue brings anSue Sawchuk understanding of the education system and its needs to the Community Foundation, having retired from a teaching career that spanned 36 years. Sue has been very active in the community, volunteering for a broad range of programs and services, including Middlesex Hospital Hospice, school committees and sports groups, all while raising three daughters. Sue joined the Community Foundation’s Grants Committee in 2013 and will continue to serve on that important committee.

Brian-Abely_wBrian Abely (Lyme) was a resident of Middletown for 20 years before moving to the shoreline. A father of two, Brian has been a very active participant in the community both as a business owner and as a volunteer. Brian built and then sold a variety of environmental companies. Over the years, Brian’s volunteer and nonprofit background brought him into close working relationships with nonprofits related to addiction and mental health issues and he currently is serving as the president of the Board of Farrell Treatment Center. Brian has been serving on CFMC’s Marketing & Communications Committee and was appointed co-chair of the committee at the Community Foundation’s December Board of Directors meeting.

Clio Coles (Deep River) is the co-founder of PCI Medical Inc., in Deep River. She received her BA from University College, Dublin and she moved from Clio-Coles_wLondon (UK) to the US with her husband Philip in 1978. She was actively involved in starting and running several companies with her husband, with specific responsibilities in managing financial, quality, and IT affairs. While raising her three children, she presided and was an officer of various school-related groups. She is a warden at St. John’s Church, Essex. Clio’s strong business background will be of great benefit to the Board of Directors and to the Community Foundation’s Grants Committee.

The Community Foundation is honored to have an incredibly dedicated and knowledgeable group working to improve the quality of life for all on the behalf of Middlesex County. We extend an exuberant “THANK YOU” to each member of our 2015 Board of Directors:
