Event Description
CFMC Nonprofit Resource Center Workshop with Simone Joyaux
Are you looking for a board position?
Is your nonprofit trying to find more and better board members?
Do you want new, competent, good, experienced, and passionate board members?
Beware! There are no silver bullets or quick fixes.
Don’t get distracted by all the news about millennials. Don’t avoid candidates who are in their 60s. Stay away from only one kind of person or one expertise or one experience.
This is hard work to find the right people who promise to learn the right stuff to fulfill the legal and moral accountability of a board.
Specific topics include:
- Role of the board – and hence the skills you need within board members
- Identifying, qualifying, and screening candidates — before you ever invite them
- Orientation for new board members — and mentoring and education
- And other secrets to success
Everyone is welcome. But the smartest organizations will make sure that the executive director and at least one board member attend

The Nonprofit Worskshop Series is generously sponsored by Guilford Savings Bank.
together.
And for those looking for a board position, prepare to hear the truth and figure out if you want to play.
Everyone will take home great handouts with great tools that you can apply immediately.
