Joshua Tucker Winslow loved his family and friends, his community, working with his hands, and the water.

Josh was an integral member of the shoreline community and touched the lives of many. Known as a big teddy bear, Josh appreciated all the wonderful things the shoreline community offered and the people who work every day to make sure this region is the best place to live, work, and play.  Josh believed in following your passions and finding out what you do well. He built his own construction company from the ground up and his most recent project was building his beloved mother her dream home by renovating the house where he and his brother and sister grew up. When not at work, Josh commonly used his free time to help family and friends in many ways.

Josh’s death due to a tragic accident while diving left his friends wondering what they could do to share Josh’s love of life and passion for working with his hands with future generations. They chose to honor his memory and continue his legacy of helping others by establishing the Joshua T. Winslow Memorial Award Fund at the Community Foundation of  Middlesex County. This education award is presented annually to one or more graduating seniors at the Westbrook and Old Saybrook high schools. The award is presented to a student who plans to a trade or technical institution upon graduation.
