CFMC Increases Grant Awards, New Funds in 2023

Middletown, CT – Thanks to generous donors, the work of local nonprofit organizations, and strengthened partnerships forged with other funders, 2023 proved to be another successful year for the Community Foundation of Middlesex County (CFMC). The CFMC Board of Directors approved $1,909,417 in grant awards to support nonprofit programs and services to improve the quality of life for all throughout the 15 towns of Middlesex County and beyond. CFMC was able to achieve this milestone in approved grant awards through an increase in donor support, including 14 new funds established at the Foundation last year.

CFMC extends a sincere thanks to the individuals, groups, and businesses who stepped up and put their hearts and dollars to work through the Community Foundation to help our community thrive in all areas that make a community a community. CFMC grant awards reflected a spirit of accessibility and inclusivity with funding made available to remove obstacles, provide opportunities for people with disabilities, and help neuro-diverse individuals live independently. Many community members will have increased access to essential health and social services to address immediate physical and mental wellness needs, thus providing a path forward to a better future. CFMC donor support also brought the past to life by preserving invaluable archives, stories, and triumphs, as they informed the community about local history. A love of lifelong learning was instilled among our community members of all ages by ensuring that toddlers and preschoolers have access to books, as they experienced the joy of reading at an early age, and by assisting seniors with new technologies to improve their daily lives. And tons of fresh vegetables were harvested for soup kitchens and pantries.

“We are grateful for all our wonderful donors and local nonprofits and inspired by the passion and commitment of all the good people throughout Middlesex County who are giving back to their local community in ways that matter to them,” commented Cynthia Clegg, CFMC President and CEO. “Each year we strive for a higher level of community collaboration and partnerships, and we are excited to welcome many new partners and will work together on new initiatives in 2024 and beyond.”
