How to Apply

Eligible applicants are strongly encouraged to review all information before preparing and submitting an application. Applications must be submitted via the online application form and all required documents must be uploaded in PDF (including the CFMC Budget Summary Form).

Applicants with grant awards from a previous cycle must submit either an interim or final evaluation by February 15, 2024.  The final evaluation form is available HERE. Interim evaluation forms are available by emailing Mary Dutton at

Application Guidelines

  • Funding requests of up to $5,000 will be considered.
  • Funding requests should include how the grant will support the organization and may be for any of the following:
    • Supporting the mission and programs/services of the organization
    • Technology/Equipment
    • Program/Project Implementation
    • Capacity Building / Organization Improvement
    • Training/Technical Assistance

Areas of Need / Impact

While some variation is possible because of funds available for grant making, the areas of need / impact are:

  • Community Enrichment (Arts/Culture/History)
  • Community Health (Health/Medical/Hospital Care)
  • Economic Security/Economic Opportunity
  • Economic Development
  • Education (Community Wide/Schools)
  • Public / Social Benefit (Civic Improvement/ Social Services
  • Environment/Animal Welfare and Protection
  • Recreation
  • Women and Girls
  • At-risk Boys & Young Men
  • Seniors and Veterans

Sources of Funding

Funding requests are reviewed by a variety of committees and may be funded through:

  • our Funds established for the general application process,
  • our funding partner GSB, and/or
  • our Field of Interest Funds.

What will NOT be Considered

Normally, the Foundation will not award grants to:

  • Organizations that, in their constitution, bylaws or practice, discriminate against a person or group on the basis of age, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation or identification, political affiliation, or religious belief;
  • Programs or materials that would normally be included in the regular operating budget for schools;
  • Municipal/government agencies for programs or materials that would normally be part of their regular operating budget;
  • Fund debt reduction or debt retirement;
  • Capital Improvement Projects and Building Programs;
  • Endowments, reserve funds, capital campaigns, or annual fund drives;
  • Fundraising event sponsorships or creation of fundraising event collateral materials;
  • Religious or political purposes;
  • For the purpose of re-granting;
  • Activities, projects, or programs that will be completed before funding becomes available (in general, no retroactive funding);
  • Staff positions for which long-term funding has not been established or planned; or
  • Individuals.
