CFMC Receives Reaccreditation with Community Foundations National Standards™

We are pleased to announce that we have received reaccreditation with Community Foundations National Standards™, the nation’s highest and most rigorous standard for philanthropic excellence. National Standards affirms our commitment to excellence and accountability. It provides assurance that we have sound policies and procedures in place for governance, grantmaking and operations.

CFMC earned its first accreditation in 2006 and at the time was the fourth community foundation in Connecticut to receive accreditation. Since then we are proud to have met the required standards for reaccreditation at each renewal period.

To earn our reaccreditation, we met strict benchmarks for 26 National Standards that show operational excellence. The standards fall within Mission, Structure and Governance, Resource Development, Stewardship & Accountability, Grantmaking, and Donor Relations. The program requires community foundations to document our policies for donor services, investments, grantmaking and administration. Our documentation was reviewed by a community foundation expert from a panel appointed by the Community Foundations National Standards Board, a supporting organization of the Council on Foundations in Washington, D.C.

What does National Standards Accreditation mean? It means we:

  • are a trustworthy partner,
  • are a good steward of the community’s endowment, and
  • operate with integrity above and beyond what’s required.

In short, it means we meet the highest standards for local philanthropy and are able to meet the unique, changing needs of Middlesex County.

It is also a promise to our community that we will continue to do this good work together, right here in Middlesex County. We will continue to help Good People Do Great Things and together, we will work to build a Better Today and Brighter Tomorrow – for all in Middlesex County.

We couldn’t have achieved this accomplishment without you. Thank you for putting your hearts and dollars to work through your community foundation to improve the quality of life for all in Middlesex County, now and forever.
