CFMC Meaningful Monday Episode 39 – July Pop Up Grant Recipients

Episode 39 – Our community is incredible! And, at the Community Foundation of Middlesex County, we love celebrating our nonprofits. In celebration of July and summer, we asked our community to nominate their favorite nonprofit for a drawing for a Pop Up Grant. We were overwhelmed with nominations (you truly love your local nonprofits!) … and we decided to celebrate with three (3) surprise grants!

Christine Cachuela of East Hampton Library, Ann Thompson of Essex Library, and Bill Gresham of the Haddam Historical Society joined Cynthia Clegg to thank their nominators and their community … and share their great work of their organizations.

Christine and Ann discuss some of the great services at the libraries, including home delivery for residents who are temporarily or permanently homebound due to illness, disability, or advanced age; reading programs for children; unique “library of things” where residents can check out specialty items and games; and so much more.

Bill holds the unique position of being the nominator for Haddam Historical Society as well. He shares why he chose to nominate the organization and discusses the two unique museums managed by Haddam Historical Society – the Thankful Arnold House and the Haddam Shad Museum.

What is a Pop Up Grant? CFMC Pop Up Grants are small grants – a way to say “thank you” for great programs and services. They are a great way to share some joy and celebration! We believe every gift, no matter the size, makes an impact in our community. It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3 … The community is invited to submit the name of a favorite Middlesex County nonprofit organization. We gather all of the entries and put them in a bowl. With a good hearty shake and a few tosses, we draw the name of a Middlesex County nonprofit organization to receive a small grant award.

Tune in to learn more about these three remarkable community organizations.
