DEBORAH T. MEHR: DEDICATED TO OTHERS – IN SO MANY WAYS

Those who knew Debbie marvel at her dedication to her family, friends and students at Wesley School in Middletown. They say things such as “what a caring, warm, nice, decent human being” she was. They remember her passion for books and reading and how she passed that love of reading on not only to her daughters, Alison and Amanda, but also to her third grade students. She bought thousands and thousands of books for her students! It’s no wonder that Wesley School dedicated a corner of the library to her.

Debbie always wanted to teach. It was in her DNA. After raising her two daughters, she went back to school to make that dream a reality. Her commitment to her students and their well-being is legendary, as evidenced by the number of former students who visited her regularly throughout her illness.

Her family wanted Debbie’s good works to be carried on through the Community Foundation and established the Mehr Family Fund in her honor. Her husband, Jonathan, stated that “the family sincerely hopes that the goodness we got from Debbie will continue year after year through this Fund”.

Truly an example of “GOOD PEOPLE DOING GREAT THINGS”.
